This is an Arita porcelain teapot in the indigo ichimatsu checkerboard, holding eight hundred millilitres and made for serving Japanese tea.

The listing describes the classic ichimatsu pattern rendered in deep indigo blue, with an arched handle that adds grip as well as shape. The body and lid are porcelain and the strainer inside is stainless steel. Its own About section places Arita ware in Arita, Saga Prefecture, dating the tradition at over four hundred years and noting that the ware was once exported under the name Imari.

The maker says hand wash only, and no microwave or direct flame.

Most of our products are handmade in Japan, and sometimes the one that you receive maybe slightly different to the photo. This is very common and in no way it will affect the performance of the product.
