This is an Arita-ware peony lemon-shape bowl, a small porcelain bowl sized for side dishes and dipping sauces.
Arita ware, from Saga Prefecture in Kyushu, is one of Japan's oldest porcelain traditions, begun in the early 17th century and once exported to Europe under the name Imari. This piece is hand-painted, so the listing notes slight pattern variation between pieces.
The maker says it is dishwasher and microwave safe.
