This is an Asahido porcelain teacup painted with bamboo and a sparrow, made in the Kiyomizu ware tradition of Kyoto and handcrafted by the studio named Touan in the listing.

The listing reads the design as a scene of nature's harmony, with the sparrow standing for simplicity and joy, and describes the cup as a straight-sided form suited to tea or coffee. Asahido's page dates the house to eighteen seventy in Kyoto and roots it in the Kyo ware and Kiyomizu ware tradition. The cup is handmade, with slight differences expected.

The listing says it is not safe for the microwave, and that hand washing is preferred to protect the hand-painted design. It arrives in an Asahido paper gift box.

Most of our products are handmade in Japan, and sometimes the one that you receive maybe slightly different to the photo. This is very common and in no way it will affect the performance of the product.
