"Seiko Tenmoku" (青煌天目 / せいこうてんもく) - Matte Silver Flower Glaze

A quiet marvel of craftsmanship, the Seiko Tenmoku mug showcases the beauty of Yuteki Tenmoku (油滴天目)—a traditional glazing technique originating in China during the Song dynasty, known for its silvery “oil-spot” crystallization.

Unlike typical Tenmoku glazes, this version features a matte firing finish, achieved through precise temperature control and kiln placement. The result is a soft, velvety surface where silver crystallized patterns emerge like frost spreading over still water.

Each mug is meticulously shaped and glazed by Kyoto artisan Daisuke Hashimoto (橋本大輔), who draws on the 1,000-year-old Tenmoku tradition, yet brings his own subtle, contemporary sensibility. No two pieces are ever alike—each is the product of both intentional technique and kiln-born serendipity.

This design is also available in Glossy Silver Flower Glaze [Asahido Silver Flower Tenmoku 銀耀天目 Mug by Hashimoto].
