Asahido Cat Bowl

Imported directly from Japan.

This is the Asahido Seiko Tenmoku mug, a matte silver flower glaze by Kyoto artisan Daisuke Hashimoto.
The listing explains the glaze: yuteki tenmoku, the oil-spot technique that came from Song-dynasty China, here fired matte rather than glossy so the silver crystallisation reads like frost over still water. No two pieces are alike, the listing says, since the pattern is part technique and part kiln. Asahido has made ceramics in Kyoto for over a hundred and fifty years, in the Kyo and Kiyomizu ware tradition, and is known for delicate hand-painting.
The glossy version, Ginyo Tenmoku, sits on a separate listing. This mug stays out of the microwave and the dishwasher.
Most of our products are handmade in Japan, and sometimes the one that you receive maybe slightly different to the photo. This is very common and in no way it will affect the performance of the product.
