History of Odawara Foundry
Odawara casting is described in the "Shinpan Sagami no Kuni Fudoki Manuscript (edited at the end of the Edo period)" as the founding of the casting industry by Jirozaemon Yamada, who came from Kawachi in 1534.
Odawara castings, which are currently produced in Odawara, were subordinated to the Okubo clan in 1686, and the Kashiwagi family moved to Nabemachi, Odawara to run a casting business. It became famous as a musical instrument maker in Odawara that incorporated the so-called musical instrument and the press casting technique.
