This is the Asahido Ginyo Tenmoku mug, a high-fired ceramic mug with a glossy silver tenmoku glaze, thrown and finished by Daisuke Hashimoto.
The listing describes the yuteki tenmoku technique: microcrystals form on the surface as the molten glaze cools, and the silver patterns, the maker's 'dew flowers', only appear under the right kiln conditions. No two mugs land the same. Asahido has made ceramics in Kyoto for over a hundred and fifty years, in the Kyo and Kiyomizu ware tradition, and is known for delicate hand-painting.
It is a tea or coffee mug that reads as an object, and it comes in the Asahido gift box. The listing keeps it out of both the microwave and the dishwasher.
