This is an Asahido shallow bowl in the Unkin Maple design, a fourteen centimetre bowl for rice, noodles or a shared side at the middle of the table.
The listing describes the decoration work: the Icchin technique, where the outline of the painting is edged with slurry so the design sits raised, alongside colour artwork, gold glazing and iron painting. Asahido's own page places the workshop in the Kyo ware and Kiyomizu ware tradition of Kyoto, founded there in eighteen seventy. The bowl is handmade, and the maker says each one differs slightly in size, colour and pattern.
The listing says it is microwave safe, and that hand washing is preferred to keep the hand-painted design going. It arrives in an Asahido paper gift box.
