This is Tosa region binchotan, Japanese white charcoal from Shikoku Island, two kilograms to the bag.

The listing describes binchotan as charcoal made from Ubame oak in a special kiln, producing a very high, steady heat with little smoke, little ash and almost no odour, which is why it is favoured for yakitori-style grilling. It notes the charcoal is hard to light, so lighting it first on a gas burner before moving it to the grill is the advised way to start it.

Use it outdoors or in a well-ventilated area, and make sure the fire is fully out after use. This item ships to Australia only.

Most of our products are handmade in Japan, and sometimes the one that you receive maybe slightly different to the photo. This is very common and in no way it will affect the performance of the product.
