This is an Arita-ware Yoraku pattern bowl, a hand-cut porcelain bowl worked into a lace-like pattern of cutout holes, sized for desserts and side dishes.
The cutouts are the point: each little hole is made by hand before the firing, which is why the listing says no two are the same. Arita ware, from Saga Prefecture in Kyushu, is one of Japan's oldest porcelain traditions, begun in the early 17th century and once exported to Europe under the name Imari. It also works as a decorative piece when it is not holding food.
Hand wash only, per the listing, which says the microwave is fine.
Most of our products are handmade in Japan, and sometimes the one that you receive maybe slightly different to the photo. This is very common and in no way it will affect the performance of the product.
