This is a Hechimon coffee cup and saucer in Shigaraki stoneware, the Black Persimmon glaze, at two hundred and forty millilitres.

Shigaraki ware comes from Shigaraki-cho in Koka City, Shiga, and is counted among Japan's six oldest kilns and a recognised traditional craft. Its feldspar-rich clay picks up scarlet fire marks and a natural ash glaze in the wood kiln, so the surface varies from piece to piece. The name Hechimon is a Shigaraki craftsman's term for something that feels unusual or unique, and the workshop leans into that: each vessel keeps its own expression. The listing carries the standard Shigaraki and Hechimon pages, with the design named in the title; the size line is the detail: a nine-centimetre mug on a sixteen-centimetre saucer, the bigger breakfast format.

Microwave safe; hand washing is recommended for lasting beauty.

Most of our products are handmade in Japan, and sometimes the one that you receive maybe slightly different to the photo. This is very common and in no way it will affect the performance of the product.
