This is an Ikenaga cast iron meat press, a Nambu ironware weight that sits on meat while it cooks.
Pressed flat against the pan, the meat cooks evenly, keeps contact for proper grill marks, and keeps its texture under a moderate weight rather than being crushed. The circular body is sized to work in a normal frying pan at home. It is Nambu ironware from Iwate, made one by one using traditional methods, with an inner enamel finish that wipes clean easily, and like all cast iron it earns more character the longer it is used.
The source says hand wash only.
