This is an Ikenaga Nambu cast iron teapot in the Pine & Crane design, holding five hundred and fifty millilitres and made for brewing green tea at the table.

The listing names pine and crane as auspicious motifs, symbols of good fortune and longevity in Japanese tradition. It is cast iron with an enamelled interior, made in Iwate Prefecture, and it arrives with the strainer in place and a paper gift box around it. The handle folds down.

The pot is for use as a teapot only and is not suitable for direct heating, so boil the water separately and pour it in. Body and handle both get hot, so potholders are the habit here. The maker says hand wash only, with no detergent, sponges or scrubbing brushes, and notes that each item is handmade so some scratches or unevenness may show.

Most of our products are handmade in Japan, and sometimes the one that you receive maybe slightly different to the photo. This is very common and in no way it will affect the performance of the product.
