This is the Ikenaga Hoju cast iron kettle, a six hundred millilitre Nambu ironware pot for brewing tea and keeping it hot at the table.

Hoju means treasured longevity, and the listing describes a gently rounded form with an enamel-coated interior that is easy to care for, inside a cast iron body with the heat retention iron is known for. It comes from Ikenaga Iron Works, keeping up the Nambu ironware tradition of Iwate Prefecture, and arrives in a signature Ikenaga paper gift box. The body measures fourteen point three centimetres wide and twenty centimetres tall.

The listing is direct about handling: gas or direct fire only, the handle does not fold down and gets hot, so use potholders. Hand wash without detergent, sponges or scrubbing brushes.

Most of our products are handmade in Japan, and sometimes the one that you receive maybe slightly different to the photo. This is very common and in no way it will affect the performance of the product.
