This is a Kutani-ware porcelain spoon painted with a dog portrait, in five breeds: Shiba, Schnauzer, Pomeranian, Chihuahua and Dachshund.

The listing's joke is the point: the dog sits at the end of the handle so it looks like the dog is licking the food. Kutani ware began in seventeenth-century Kutani, now part of Kaga in Ishikawa, and is known for strong overglaze colour, with its five-colour gosai palette of green, blue, yellow, purple and red the best-known style.

At fourteen and a half centimetres it is a dessert or ice-cream spoon, and the listing boxes it as a gift for dog people. Hand washing is recommended, and it notes each spoon is hand painted with differences piece to piece.

Most of our products are handmade in Japan, and sometimes the one that you receive maybe slightly different to the photo. This is very common and in no way it will affect the performance of the product.
