This is a Mac ceramic honing rod with a medium 1200 grit surface, used to hone and gently realign an edge between sharpenings, in the manner of a European steel.
The listing says a ceramic rod is harder and finer than a traditional steel, and suggests using the rod daily in a commercial kitchen or every few weeks at home, while still sharpening on stones every couple of weeks or months. The rod measures 15mm across with a 215mm rod length and a wooden handle.
Wipe the rod clean after use and store it where the ceramic will not be knocked.
