Yohen Karatsu (窯変唐津) is a distinctive style of Karatsu ware (唐津焼, Karatsu-yaki) originating from Karatsu City, Saga Prefecture, Japan. It is renowned for its natural and unpredictable glaze transformations during firing. The term "Yohen (窯変)", meaning "kiln transformation," refers to the spontaneous changes in glaze color, speckling, and texture caused by the firing atmosphere, ash deposits, and flame exposure, making each piece truly unique.
