This is an Okunoto konro grill in the large wide size, the Japanese charcoal grill that suits six to twelve people.
It is made from Noto Peninsula diatom mud, an excellent insulator that holds the heat inside the grill instead of bleeding it out. The coals run extremely hot as a result, which is the whole point of a konro and what makes a good yakitori-style barbecue possible at home. The narrow body lets skewers rest across the walls without toppling into the fire, and a reusable grill mesh comes with it for looser food.
Set it on a heat-resistant mat and use it somewhere the air moves. Keep water off the mud entirely: never put the fire out with water, avoid washing the body, and just lift out the ash and food residue once it is cold.
Most of our products are handmade in Japan, and sometimes the one that you receive maybe slightly different to the photo. This is very common and in no way it will affect the performance of the product.
