This is a Satsuma Kiriko sake glass, cut with a two-tone gradient in a star motif.
The cut is built around two overlapping stars, their points crossing rather than sitting side by side. Smaller chrysanthemum facets sit inside the stars, and arched cuts along the sides catch light at an angle a flat cut wouldn't.
This is Satsuma Kiriko, cut in Kagoshima rather than Tokyo. The colour skin is left thick enough that a cut fades softly into the clear underneath instead of stopping in a hard line, the gradation called bokashi. It's sized for sake, and the gradient shows up best held toward a light rather than under a bar's.
Wash it by hand in warm water with a soft sponge, never a scourer, and give it two rinses so no soap film dulls the cut. Keep it out of the dishwasher and away from sudden changes in temperature.
Most of our products are handmade in Japan, and sometimes the one that you receive maybe slightly different to the photo. This is very common and in no way it will affect the performance of the product.
