This is a Shigaraki teapot in the standard rounded form, at three hundred millilitres, made in the transfer decoration style the listing names.
Shigaraki ware comes from Shigaraki-cho in Koka City, Shiga, and is counted among Japan's six oldest kilns and a recognised traditional craft. Its feldspar-rich clay picks up scarlet fire marks and a natural ash glaze in the wood kiln, so the surface varies from piece to piece.
It is the taller sibling of the shallow version on our shelves: nine point eight centimetres across, nine and a half centimetres tall. Hand wash is recommended, and each piece is handmade with subtle differences.
Most of our products are handmade in Japan, and sometimes the one that you receive maybe slightly different to the photo. This is very common and in no way it will affect the performance of the product.
