Toa Glass and Satoshi Nabetani 鍋谷 聰

Toa Glass Crafts is an Edo Kiriko workshop founded in 1960. When it first opened it was known as an industrial cutting factory that manufactured whiskey bottles and the like, and has trained over 200 craftsmen in total. It later shifted to producing Edo Kiriko. Currently, the workshop is run by the father, a Tokyo Meister selected by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, and his son, a traditional craftsman of traditional crafts, and they are engaged in contract processing, manufacturing of made-to-order products, and the creation of original designs.

Traditional craftsman Satoshi Nabetani is particularly particular about "transparency and light." His design, which uses vessels covered in transparent colored glass and has a large area of transparent glass carved out, reflects the craftsman's belief that "the charm of Edo Kiriko is light."

The craftsmen's attention to detail, such as selecting vessels for transparency and the spread of light, continues to express the new charm of Edo Kiriko, which changes depending on how the light hits it.
