This is an Asahido teacup with a lid, made with the Seigaiha wave pattern, a collaboration piece with the Hasami ware maker Tanshin-gama.

The listing describes the crystal carving as countless small crystals set into the surface so it shimmers when light hits it, and the seigaiha wave is the old motif standing for peace and good fortune. The cup is porcelain under a crystal-thin glass element with cutout detail, and the listing notes the handmade differences between pieces.

At one hundred millilitres it is a proper teacup rather than a mug. The listing keeps it out of both the microwave and the dishwasher.

Most of our products are handmade in Japan, and sometimes the one that you receive maybe slightly different to the photo. This is very common and in no way it will affect the performance of the product.
