This is an Edo Kiriko whisky glass by Kaito Nabetani, cut with the Kokka, black blossom, pattern.
Kokka sets a flower shape against crisp, sharp edges rather than softening it, the cut leaning into glass's harder side rather than its usual delicacy. Kaito Nabetani is the fourth generation to cut in this workshop, working alongside his father Junichi.
Nabetani Glass Crafts is a family workshop in Tokyo's Ota ward, cut on crystal that comes from Kagami and from Fukagawa Glass. Pour whisky over ice, and the black colour keeps the cut edges reading sharp even in low light.
Wash it by hand in warm water with a soft sponge, never a scourer, and give it two rinses so no soap film dulls the cut. Keep it out of the dishwasher and away from sudden changes in temperature.
