This is an Edo Kiriko rock glass by Junichi Nabetani, pairing chrysanthemum with sakura, cherry blossom, in red.
The chrysanthemum carries the brightness in this cut and the sakura blossoms sit alongside it in a softer, more open shape, the same pairing approach Nabetani uses in its chrysanthemum-and-kikyo design.
Nabetani Glass Crafts is a family workshop in Tokyo's Ota ward, cut on crystal that comes from Kagami and from Fukagawa Glass. It's built for whisky on the rocks.
Wash it by hand in warm water with a soft sponge, never a scourer, and give it two rinses so no soap film dulls the cut. Keep it out of the dishwasher and away from sudden changes in temperature.
