This is a Hokuriku aluminium stepped pot with a wooden lid, a retro Showa-style simmering pot.

It is made from lightweight aluminium alloy with an anodised alumite finish that resists rust and food acids, will not peel, and wipes clean easily. A traditional uchidashi hammer finish strengthens the surface and improves how it carries heat. The stepped inner rim holds the wooden lid at a set height: the lid absorbs excess moisture while simmering and helps stop boil-overs, which is exactly what Japanese-style simmering wants.

It suits oden, nikujaga, noodles and vegetables, heats fast, and is light enough to carry from stove to table. Gas and direct fire only, and the source says hand wash only.

Most of our products are handmade in Japan, and sometimes the one that you receive maybe slightly different to the photo. This is very common and in no way it will affect the performance of the product.
