About Nippon Kodo (日本香堂)

Founded in 1575 in Kyoto, now based in Tokyo, Nippon Kodo is one of Japan’s oldest and most respected incense brands, known for its dedication to the art of incense making. With over 400 years of tradition, the brand combines ancient craftsmanship with modern innovation to create incense that brings peace, tranquility, and a deep sensory experience.

Rooted in its founder, Jyuemon Takai, who originally served as an incense maker for the Emperor of Japan, Nippon Kodo continues to uphold this rich heritage. Today, the company ensures that each incense product reflects the highest standards of quality and craftsmanship.

OEDO-KOH 大江戸香 (おおえどこう) Incense Series

Inspired by the rich heritage and refined aesthetics of old Edo (now Tokyo), the OEDO-KOH series from Nippon Kodo brings to life the fragrant stories of Japan’s cultural golden age. Each scent in this beautifully crafted collection reflects a different aspect of Edo-period life — from the graceful bloom of cherry blossoms to the calming strength of pine trees.

Handmade by skilled artisans in Tokyo, these incenses are a blend of tradition and elegance. Packaged in paulownia wood boxes and accompanied by a delicately designed incense holder, OEDO-KOH is more than just a fragrance — it’s an invitation to slow down and savor the beauty of the moment.
