This is a Southern Wind star pattern deep plate: a whimsical star motif under a flared rim, named for the paikaji, the southern wind of Okinawa, and made for pasta, curry, stews and generous salads.
The listing describes the outward curve as both the look and the function: the flare lifts food toward the diner and holds more than a flat plate would. The hand-applied pattern and natural glaze variations lean relaxed and southern.
