This is a Toa Glass whisky glass by Satoshi Nabetani, cut with the Haine, sound-of-waves, pattern in blue.
The upper half carries an asanoha, hemp-leaf, cut, an old pattern built from a hexagon broken into six points and traditionally used on baby clothes for the way hemp grows fast and strong. Below it the glass curves inward, the shape meant to suggest a wave's motion rather than repeat a fixed pattern.
Toa Glass began as a factory cutting whisky bottles before it turned to Edo Kiriko, and its cutter Satoshi Nabetani favours clear glass carved back rather than pattern packed edge to edge. Pour whisky over ice; the curve at the base sits comfortably against the fingers.
Wash it by hand in warm water with a soft sponge, never a scourer, and give it two rinses so no soap film dulls the cut. Keep it out of the dishwasher and away from sudden changes in temperature.
Most of our products are handmade in Japan, and sometimes the one that you receive maybe slightly different to the photo. This is very common and in no way it will affect the performance of the product.
