Yamada Crystal Glass Radiant Light 煌光 Sake Cup - Purple
Glitter Crystal, Koko 煌光
Named “Koko” (煌光), meaning Radiant Light in Japanese, this exquisite sake cup captures the brilliance and clarity that define Edo Kiriko. Each cut is designed to reflect light from every angle, creating a shimmering interplay of shadow and glow that brings the glass to life.
This piece embodies the spirit of Edo Kiriko craftsmanship, combining classic motifs with remarkable precision. The alternating patterns of chrysanthemum petals and octagonal basket weave are not only visually striking—they reflect centuries of traditional design, reinterpreted through a refined modern lens.
More than just a sake cup, this piece invites a quiet moment of appreciation. Perfect for intimate gatherings or cherished rituals, it brings timeless Japanese elegance to your everyday table.
This design is also available in different colours!
Edo Kiriko (江戸切子)
Edo Kiriko, Japan’s exquisite cut glass craft, dates back to 1834 (Tenpo 5), when Kaga-ya Kyubei, a glass merchant in Edo’s Odenmacho district, first engraved patterns onto glass using emery.
During the Meiji era, as Western knowledge spread, Edo glassmaking merged with European cut glass techniques, shaping the Edo Kiriko we cherish today. This craft is now officially recognized as a Traditional Craft by Japan’s Minister of Economy, Trade, and Industry.
Precision Cutting & Luminous Luster
Authenticity in Edo Kiriko lies in the details. True craftsmanship is revealed through razor-sharp edges, intricate patterns, and a breathtaking luster—achieved only through expert hand-polishing. Each piece reflects the artisan’s dedication, skill, and deep-rooted passion for the craft.
