Wave, Hado 波動

"Hado" (波動) means wave motion in Japanese. It evokes the gentle yet powerful rhythm of nature—like ripples across water or the flow of energy through the air. This design captures that essence through delicate cuts that dance with light, giving the glass a sense of movement and quiet strength.

Crafted from beautifully colored green overlay crystal glass, this piece draws inspiration from the sea. Flowing curves represent the motion of waves, while traditional patterns—chrysanthemum connections and blue ocean waves (Seigaiha)—are arranged in an elegant, random pattern. The high level of artisan freedom in each creation results in subtle variations, making every glass truly one of a kind.

This design is also available in a sake cup version!

Edo Kiriko (江戸切子)

Edo Kiriko, Japan’s exquisite cut glass craft, dates back to 1834 (Tenpo 5), when Kaga-ya Kyubei, a glass merchant in Edo’s Odenmacho district, first engraved patterns onto glass using emery.

During the Meiji era, as Western knowledge spread, Edo glassmaking merged with European cut glass techniques, shaping the Edo Kiriko we cherish today. This craft is now officially recognized as a Traditional Craft by Japan’s Minister of Economy, Trade, and Industry.

Precision Cutting & Luminous Luster

Authenticity in Edo Kiriko lies in the details. True craftsmanship is revealed through razor-sharp edges, intricate patterns, and a breathtaking luster—achieved only through expert hand-polishing. Each piece reflects the artisan’s dedication, skill, and deep-rooted passion for the craft.
