This is a Sori Yanagi Nambu tekki shallow cast iron casserole with a stainless steel lid, an iron skillet-cum-casserole designed by one of Japan's best-known industrial designers.
The body is cast Nanbu Tekki iron, the traditional craft ironware that heats evenly and holds warmth all the way to the last bite, taking gentle heat through simmering, braising, roasting and steaming, and releasing trace iron into food along the way. The base carries ridges for sear marks and for draining fat and moisture away, and the whole piece runs from stove or oven straight to the table under its stainless lid.
It suits open fire, oven and induction, but not a microwave. The source says hand wash only.
