This is a cat clay sculpture, number 8, by the Kyoto ceramic artist Kazuya Yoshida, worked from natural clay.
Kazuya Yoshida is a Kyoto ceramic artist working under the studio name Toutogama. Each piece is shaped by hand from natural clay and painted one by one, with the recurring touches of his maneki-neko work: a woven fabric collar, a beckoning paw, a symbolic coin.
It measures about twenty-five centimetres long, fourteen wide and seventeen high.
It is a display piece rather than something you handle daily, and the listing gives no care note beyond that, so a dry dust is all it asks.
Most of our products are handmade in Japan, and sometimes the one that you receive maybe slightly different to the photo. This is very common and in no way it will affect the performance of the product.
