This is a hardwood saya for a sujihiki, offered in the standard Sakai profile with sizes for 240mm and 270mm blades.

The sheath is made from two hardwoods to choose from: a light, naturally oily teak that the listing notes deals well with moisture, and a dark African wenge that once fully oxidised is almost black and suits darker handles. A pin is supplied with the saya; you fit the knife, mark the pin hole and drill it yourself. Because sujihiki sizes vary a lot between makers, the listing notes three main profiles (a standard Sakai shape, a larger Takefu shape and a thicker-spined Sanjo shape) and offers a choose-the-right-size option when the saya is bought together with a knife.

Wipe the timber dry if it gets wet, and let it dry through before sheathing a knife.

Most of our products are handmade in Japan, and sometimes the one that you receive maybe slightly different to the photo. This is very common and in no way it will affect the performance of the product.
