This is a Kousaido tin incense stand shaped as a crane, made to hold one stick of incense while it burns.
The listing gives it as tin, five and a half by three by two point seven centimetres, made in Japan, one holder to the pack.
Light the tip of the stick, blow the flame out so the ember smoulders, and set it in the holder on a stable, heat-resistant surface away from drafts, never left burning unattended.
