This is an Asahido small bowl in the Sakura design, a twelve-and-a-half centimetre bowl for rice, soup or dessert portions.
Asahido's page in the listing places the workshop in the Kyo ware and Kiyomizu ware tradition of Kyoto, founded there in eighteen seventy, and describes a house style of delicate hand-painting inspired by nature and seasonal motifs. The bowl is handmade, and the maker says each one differs slightly in size, colour and pattern.
The listing says it is not safe for the microwave or the dishwasher. Hand wash is safest here. It arrives in an Asahido paper gift box.
