About Sori Yanagi

Mr. Sori Yanagi was born in 1915 in Harajuku, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo, as the eldest son of Muneyoshi Yanagi, who is famous as the founder of the folk art movement in Japan .

Sori Yanagi, who entered the Tokyo School of Fine Arts (now Tokyo University of the Arts) in 1940, was inspired by the concept of "where there is no decoration, there is true decoration" advocated by the famous French architect Le Corbusier.

This concept received a deep impact and would have a great influence on Mr. Sori Yanagi's later designs.

Also, since he was a child, he had rebelled against the influence of his father, Muneyoshi Yanagi . It seems that it has been included and has reached the present. As a world-famous industrial designer representing Japan, his creative ambition knows no bounds.
